Postgraduate Courses

Graduate Certificate in Human Rights

The Graduate Certificate is an alternative entry point for students with relevant experience, but who may not have the requisite formal qualifications. The Graduate Certificate consists of 4 coursework units taken either full time or part time. Upon successful completion of the Graduate Certificate, students may enrol directly in the Masters of Human Rights and be credited for the units undertaken.

Master of Human Rights

The Master program consists of 8 coursework units (2 semesters full time study or part time equivalent) followed by a 3rd semester of project work. The project may be either supervised field work or research and the production of a thesis. The course work component includes 6 core units covering the theoretical and philosophical foundations of human rights, human rights traditions in different cultures and religions, human rights instruments and institutions, community education, human rights activism and human rights and development. Students may choose 2 optional units from a range of subjects such as law, international relations, sociology, international health or another area of interest. This structure enables students to pursue their individual interests in human rights and adds to the multidisciplinary nature of the course.
